SUBCLASS 888A – BUSINESS INNOVATION VISA

The business innovation stream is the second stage of the Business innovation and investment visa (subclass 188) which allows you to manage your business and investments in Australia and stay in Australia permanently. Must hold a subclass 188A visa, subclass 444 (Special Category) visa, or certain holders of a subclass 457 (Business (Long Stay) visa.

SUBCLASS 888A – BUSINESS INNOVATION VISA – KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must have a current nomination from a State or Territory government agency
You have had ownership interest in Australian business for the last 2 years
You must have an ABN and has lodged the business activity statement (BAS) for the last 2 years
For the last 2 years immediately before you apply, you must have in Australia:
- If the company’s annual turnover exceeds $400000, you must own 30% of shares
- If the company’s annual turnover is under $400,000, you must own 51% of share
- If a listed company, you must own 10% of shares or above
The business has had an annual turnover at least AUD 300,000 in the last 12 months before application was made

SUBCLASS 888A – BUSINESS INNOVATION VISA – COST

The visa costs AUD2,590 for the main applicant.

There is also a charge for each family member who applies for the visa with you.

Additional applicant over 18 years old: AUD1,300
Additional applicant under 18 years old: AUD645

You might have to pay an extra charge for any applicant 18 years old or older who has less than functional English. The second instalment charge is AUD4,890.
