Subclass 188A – Business Innovation STREAM
A provisional visa for those who have successful business career or investor from overseas and who wants to establish, develop and manage a new or existing business in Australia. You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency, before being invited to apply for this visa.

- You must be under 55 years old
- You must score at least 65 points on the points test
- Successful overall business and investment career
- For 2 out of 4 fiscal years immediately before you receive an invitation to apply, you must have had an ownership stake in 1 or 2 businesses that had at least AUD500,000 turnover in each of those 2 years
- If the company’s annual turnover exceeds $400000, you must own 30% of shares
- If the company’s annual turnover is under $400,000, you must own 51% of share
- If a listed company, you must own 10% of shares or above
- Total net business and personal assets of at least AUD800,000
Subclass 188A – BENEFITS
- Stay in Australia for up to 4 years and 3 months
- Bring eligible members of your family with you
- Apply for a permanent stream if certain requirements are met.
Subclass 188A – COST
This visa costs AUD5,375 for the main applicant.
There is also a charge for each family member who applies for the visa with you:
- Family members over 18 years old: AUD2,685
- Family members under 18 years old: AUD1,345
You must pay an extra charge for any applicant 18 years old or older who has less than functional English. The second instalment charges are:
- Main applicant: AUD9,795
- Family members: AUD4,890
